Esther Sample is an abstract artist based in Tottenham, London.

Her work is influenced by the physical and material environment of where she lives. She is inspired by the layers of light and texture she sees in London and the complicated social fabric which lies beneath. Esther primarily works in acrylic, ink or mixed media on paper. Layers are built up, scraped away and built up again using acrylic, ink, oil, pastel, matt and gloss mediums. Her works include collage, mono-printing, brush and pastel marks to create varied multi-layer abstractions.

Esther has studied at the Essential School of Painting (ESOP), and has exhibited widely across London and the UK including the Terrace Gallery and Linden Hall. Esther's work was selected for the Jackson Art Prize Extended Longlist 2026.
